Hi, I have an ulcer on the top of my foot that I'm told now has gangrene. I've been seen by the foot clinic and yesterday saw a vascular surgeon who is going to book me in for an angioplasty. But does anyone know what happens in the meantime? No-one has mentioned taking any other action but the angioplasty is at least three weeks away. I'm just putting iodine dressings and plasters on it. My foot has swollen up today. It's terrifying.

Did the foot clinic give you a number to call if you had concerns or questions? If so, call that in the morning.

For tonight, consider elevating your foot. That can often help with swelling. If you have concerns something is going wrong, now, NHS 111 is always there for advice.

in the morning, if you have no contact numbers for the foot clinic, call your GP.

I'm sorry you've got a foot ulcer @Jo19
I'd suggest ringing the foot clinic tomorrow to say your foot has swollen up and also contact your gp. If you don't get anywhere ring 111 for advice as it's important you see someone urgently.
Also ring the hospital where you're going to have the angioplasty to see if there are any cancellations on a daily basis. The sooner the angioplasty is done the better, and unfortunately we have to be very proactive nowadays.
