Foot ulcers what is best for curing them?
I have had varicose ulcers over the years due bad circulation and they have been very hard to heal.

What I found from the GP's / Vascular specialists over this time was that zinc cream / paste bandages were the best. Unfortunately my skin has got sensitised to zinc cream and so are not longer safe to use due to the dermatitis that now erupts.

I have used various cream over the years with some success but dermatitis rears it's ugly head.

I have a wound on my ankle that is not really ulcerated but it will not heal (T2 poking it's nose in), I now wear Jobst pressure stockings on both legs, and on the wound I have been using Betadine ointment with a sterile dressing and a soft pad under the liner. This is treatment by myself is taking a while but the hole is slowly closing up nicely.

As others have said see your GP before they get bigger.

Edit: I have just read the manual for the bandages and it said this.

Compression bandaging should not be used on patients who have arterial disease (ABPI<0.8) and is not recommended for use on diabetic patients with advanced small vessel disease.

So be aware.

If you have or suspect you may have a foot ulcer and you think it may be infected you must seek medical advice immediately do not try and treat it your self.
