Hi dani, where did you get the info about 3 days? Lantus works over 24 hours, which begins shortly after you inject. If you forgot to take your dose this morning, your blood sugars would have been high all day.Hi all, when I just injected my NovoRapid for dinner I got a horrible thought that I didn't take my lantus thismorning. I'm feeling really silly and now I don't know what to do
I take 24 units at 6:30am, and I really don't remember taking it, however I can't say for sure.
Do you know how long it would take to show (I know they always advise to wait 3 days between changing doses so does that mean thismorning's insulin wouldn't be effective for 3 days?)
Thanks in advance for listening to me waffling! x

Believe me if I had 2p for every time I was in your situation, I would never run dry at those fairground tipping point machines !Thanks Spiker and Mo - I would have put money on not taking it, but from what you're saying I must have!

Thank you for your replies. If it was certain I hadn't taken it I would take a reduced dose, but my levels haven't rocketed today so maybe I did?! Gosh I'm crazy
Brilliant - think I'll get one of those. ThanksMore than likely you did, we have all had these moments many times before.
You can buy caps that fit on the pens that have an in-built timer, one is called Timesulin and I've been tempted to buy one myself, the downside is the battery's only last around 12 months and you can't replace them:

Thanks Spiker, I have been correcting at meal times with the NovoRapid but this is common for me when stressed at work! I am going to buy a Timesulin as suggested by Noble as I think £25 is well worth it for the reassurance!@Jaylee raises a good point. Unless you are absolutely sure you missed the basal shot, don't worry about it. Just take the next one at the next scheduled time. Taking a double basal dose by mistake is much worse than just missing a dose. Missing your basal for a day is not great, but it's no big deal as long as you are eating, testing, correcting during the day. A double dose risks hypos, and they are a different kind of hypo than you may be used to. Basal overdose hypos can creep up on you very slowly, without the familiar warning signs.
