New here, just started on forxiga 9 days ago along side novirapid and lantus, used for 10years. The side effects has been tiredness and mouth ulcers, this is now improving, I've also had thrush. Am I likely to keep encountering thrush or can I do something to avoid?
Using the forxiga has greatly reduced the novirapid, my measurements are very consistent with hardly any peaks (using libre sensor)
I'm guessing that thrush is the result of passing sugar out in your urine?
There is an interesting comment here from one user who just took canesten pessaries every month as a preventative....
As a T2 on foxiga for about 5 years, the thrush thing is about drinking plenty of fluid, it works by holding the glucose in your urine, so drink, drink and drink some more (minimum 2 litre I'm usually pushing 4!) At 1st you're never away from the loo, but as your body gets used to your higher hydration levels this slows to "normal" levels unless your a bit high when trips increase as your body/meds try to shift the excess. I've only had 1 bout in those 5 years and it was because I didn't drink enough for several days
