I am T2 diabetic diagnosed a few years back. I have been taking Metformin SR and Gliclazide for some years, but for the past year my levels have not been acceptable to the GP / Diabetes nurse. They changed my medication a few months ago, taking me off the Gliclazide and putting me on Forxiga. This medication is slightly different to many diabetic treatments in that excess sugars are transferred out of the body directly through your urine.
This is where my trouble has arisen - in that the increased amounts of sugar in the urine has a side-effect of causing infection in my nether regions (a bit similar to thrush, but is called balinitis). I am, at present using a multifunctional cream to treat the affected area that is called Trimovate.
To other male members (no pun intended) of the forum, I ask the questions: has anyone else experienced this, what treatment was prescribed and how successful was it?
