Forxiga

My doctor and diabetic nurse want me to start taking this medication but I am already prone to thrush and urinary tract infections. I lost 3.5 stone in weight 5 years ago and have managed to keep it off but cannot lose the final stone. I follow a low carb diet and take Metformin SR am & pm. Other medications have been prescribed but with all gained weight at the rate of 1-2 pounds a week. Anyone positive about taking Forxiga??

I have been taking Forxiga for about 4 months now, and haven't experienced any problems. Well done, not only for the weight loss, but for keeping it off - that's fantastic.

I dont know much about Forxiga so can't advice really, but you need to get a blood ketone meter as Forxiga can cause normoglucose ketoacidosis. We had a member not long ago who had that.

Hi, I've been on forxiga for a year now. I also take metformin SR am and pm plus gliclazide. My weight has remained the same over the year. For the first couple of weeks forxiga made me really thirsty (and frequent wees) but that soon improved. No other side effects until about a month ago... The Thrush started!

I take forxiga and apart froma little bit of thrush no concerns as of yet

Absolutely love it. Wonder drug. I do get thrush occasionally but it is more than worth it for the weight loss and blood sugar control I get from forxiga. If you are low carbing you shouldn't have that much trouble with thrush I always find it comes on when I start eating excess carbs. Just ask your GP for a fluoxetine pilll which stops the thrush or you can buy it over the counter in the chemists for about a fiver. If you need to lose weight forxiga is great, I would go so far as to say I struggle to gain weight on it even if I am eating quite a lot, lost three wonderful stone since starting on it 2 years ago.

Still taking the forxiga...thrush I have had but got some cream from chemist their own make and was very cheap...
