Found out the inevitable today, T2

Sounds like my sweet tooth. I love those ciders too but my bgs jump out of the window
I like your advice on fatty liver. The liver holds a lot of keys to diseases. One member @Liam1955 is doing a lot of work on his liver successfully too. He uses milk thistle and is getting great improvements on a diet not low carb, even.
Act now @BarneyLFC80 . Don't wait for confusing and conducting advice. Get a grip on your liver.
Myself lchf reduced my liver enzymes hugely. Cheese and double cream worked wonders. Chips and roasties, beer and crisp eating are a life of disease. Pork scratchings and celeriac chips with eggs, chicken, beef and bacon in stir-fries, omelettes and the occasional fried eggs on protein bread toast. No baked beans but anything labelled less than 10g carb per 100g will get your meals exciting.
Good luck and enjoy your food knowing its safe for your liver and diabetes.

My daughter's liver enzymes were mildly elevated and returned to normal when she stopped her vitamin supplement. Happened to her friend who took the same thing. I'd stay away from mysterious dietary supplements if you know what's good for you.

Sorry to hear that. Plenty of good advice on here.

Would also add Dr Bernsteins diabetes solution - though mainly for type 1s and Blood sugar 101 by Jenny Rhule.

I was told the same, eat potatoes, carrots, chocolate etc etc, having Gestational Diabetes prior to being diagnosed with T2 a few weeks ago I knew that potatoes were an "enemy" - really shocked at the advice (or lack of advice) I was given.

Hi Barney
I am prediabetic. I tried a diabetes education course and it was a complete and utter waste of my time. I dropped out after 3 sessions because I resented being talked down to by a group leader who wasn't even a nurse, let alone a dietician. I'm convinced that when they're designing this course, they assume everyone who is type 2 or pre is obese, lazy and ignorant. The Eatwell plate was produced and all the usual rubbish about eating low fat this and that, which being a foodie I wouldn't touch with a bargepole.
I have found the most useful information on this website and just researching online in general. All the emerging evidence seems to suggest that low carb is the way to go. I'm still trying to wean myself off carbs and sweet stuff which I really like, but you may find you can get into it fairly quickly.

I’m new too, please check out dr.Sarah Hallberg on youtube. The channel is called fitterU. She’s a real doctor for obesity and diabetes. She talks about the Low carb High Fat (LCHF) way of eating. Also dr Eric Westman has a YouTube video about diabetes, he’s from Duke University. The video is called Dr. Eric Westman LCHF and Diabetes: Theory and clinical experience.

Two excellent videos by real educated specialists who have really good news about reversing Diabetes.

One has done study’s and the other does hands on practice in her daily life.

I hope you find some help with these videos.

I’ve been diagnosed, sent home with Metformin. I didn’t use it because my BG levels are within range. A doctor can’t see me until end of February.

I would love to hear if LCHF works for you. It’s working for me. Stay in touch,
