This morning when I wrote in I was feeling very alone and quite desperate about everything,I felt I was never going to get my head round this illness.Since then I have read lots of your messages about all aspects of diabetes and I feel so much better now.A big thank you to Bruce who replied to me and who seemed to get what I was saying.I have a long way to go and theres still much I dont understand but now I know i'm not alone and I dont think i'm going crazy after all.Incidently I have a numb left hand,I thought it was to do with a trapped nerve I had but could it be this neurothingy or do you just get that in your foot? Best wishes,Debs.

hi Debs

Glad you are feeling a bit better. There is SOOOO much information on the internet and you should read and learn as much as possible in order that you can help yourself!

Neuropathy is not restricted to just your feet, so it might be worth getting your hand checked out. On diagnosis did you get a thorough check over (feet, eyes etc etC).

Not really,I was ignoring it for years until last year when I started to feel ill.I have a new doctor who has drastically increased my medication to the max but as I said I cant seem to get my head round the proper diet yet but I will.Cant get an eye test round here for love or money the waiting list is 6 months! I have my blood test next week so that will be my cue to start a new eating regime using info I have got from here.I am confused by the mix of pills I am taking and i'm convinced they are whats making me feel ill.4 metformin 500,4 gliclacide 80,1 pioglitazone 30,thyroxine and a statin plus my multivitamins. Is there a chance if I control my diabetes with diet and exercise my pills will be decreased? Debs

If you are overweight, debs, and lose even 10% of that weight it can make a big difference.Of course if you aren't overweight then trying to eat so that your blood sugars are controlled can also make a difference. There is lots of info on the forum about diet.I'm glad that you feel a little more confident and I hope that we can get you on the right road to control.
