Hi,
Just a quick "heads-up" for all those of us who have been trying to get a free Contour USB meter from Bayer without success.
I just collected my box of BD 4mm needles and there was a voucher/form to send off to Bayer for a completely free Contour USB meter on the top of the box. The offer is valid until 2013, but the vouchers may not be on the boxes for long. It might be worth getting your needles a little earlier than usual if your GP will allow it and you want the meter.
This seems like a quite rare chance, knowing how many of us have failed to get one free from Bayer.

Hi

I think it might be wise to find out whether your GP commission group will carry on funding any type of bg teststrip. Some are but some aren't.

The strips for the Contour are the same as the ones used by their older meters. I know there are differing opinions on the supply of free test strips on GP prescriptions, but I think that most of the problems are related to T2 rather that T1 diabetics. Nevertheless, a free meter costs you exactly that, nothing, so there is no reason NOT to try to get one.

I used the voucher and sent off for one, it took a month to arrive but it's well worth the wait. I use an Accu-Check Freestyle and this one will become my spare. It comes with 50 free test so I'll not worry about replacing them yet.
