Hi folks
after reading quite a few posts regarding test strips it seems to me that different GP practices have different rules regarding test strips and other Diabetic requirements. As i was informed of my GP that as a diabetic i get my meds and strips f.o.c . Why would this be any different elseware. And if so could them people not ask there gp for a medical excemption form? I don't know much about any of this but like on the forum nobody should be scared to ask there GP about help towards there meds. Seems sad that addicts get all there kit free and i believe that alcoholics get daily payments . (not being critical or byiastt to either) For a start you would think that it is in the interest of car drivers to check thereselves daily and that would be in the interest of the GP to know there patients are taking relatively caution towards there diabeties. Speaking of my own levels i won't drive at all . But that is my choice. If your like me and you have to press the (a )at the top of this right hand page to enlarge the writing then you may want to ask yourself ("should i be driving"). Don't forget to let your insurance company know your diabetic . If you have an accident and you haven't ,your insurance will be deemed null and void. I'm sure thats an automatic ban  so next time you see your GP remind her/him you test before leaving home and you test before driving home. Keep a diary in the car and log your levels it might save your life and someone elses. Be safe and be happy :D

Non-insulin-treated type 2 DM
Routine SMBG levels is not required if patients are well
controlled on non-insulin therapy (including oral treatment,
and diet and exercise control).[8] Six monthly measurement of
HbA1C should be used to monitor blood glucose control.[5]

Just shows what your up against
Best bit it says type 1 to only test 4X day

I do get test strips now due to other things inc new GP 8)
