FreeStyle Glucose Test Strip Recall???

A very curious case - Abbot sent me 8 packs of Freestyle glucose test strips out of the blue; however, I've not had any contact with Abbot Diabetes for two years now and have never acquired test strips directly from Abbot. The included letter claimed that the test strips were a replacement I had requested, which is definitely not the case and the agent I spoke to when I rang Abbot couldn't tell me anything either.

Has this happened to anybody else or is someone able to shed some light on this mystery?

there a good company abbotts my BG meter broke down i contacted abbott for help, there rushed me a replacement meter or should i say there sent me 2 of there models F.O.C. at present im using there freestyle Lite its a brilliant little meter.

I use freestyle too, not heard anything about the test strips or anything. In fact, I picked up a prescription today and the pharmacist didn't say anything about it.
Maybe they've got your details mixed up with somebody else's?

Abbott have had a recall on blood strips with all their testers and cgm's.

They sent me a letter despite not having their cgm since last May after I notified the MHRA it was reading too low.

They have now sent me a box containing of 8 boxes of blood strips despite me telling them to stop pestering me anout the cgm that was returned to the hospital.

Abbott have problems with their strips... If you have any strips and you have not been sent replacements you should contact Abbott and find out if yours should be replaced. I am positive they they recalled ALL strips because they basically only have one batch number...

The issue is with the Abbott Freestyle and Freestyle Mini meters, an NHS alert has been issued and the company have written to users. The meters may be reading low. Abbott have requested users to contact them to discuss supply of a new meter.

Ah yes, that makes sense - I did use a Navigator years ago. Cheers.

I called Abbott this morning as I use the Freestyle mini. The problem is the meter so it took them all of 5 minutes to get my name and address and tell me they were sending me a new meter (freestyle lite I think which means presc change for different strips). Great service apart from the fact that it took them 29 minutes to actually answer the phone with a real person. Their hold music is not good grrrr
