Type 1 Freestyle Libra 2 Plus

I'm due to go on a family holiday to Menorca within the next 3 weeks.

I haven't flown in the past 2 years and since then I know airport security has been updated and most airports have now installed new full body scanners. I can't find any reliable information on whether these new scanners affect the Freestyle Libra 2 Plus test sensor. The last time I flew I was able to walk through a scanner without it affecting/causing the test sensor to stop working. I'm worried that the new airport scanners will cause malfunction on the test sensor that I'll be wearing and result in me needing to apply a new sensor.

Has anyone any recent experience of the newer airport full body scanners and did the Freestyle Libra test sensor malfunction/stop working?

Any experiences/advice/comments would be welcome!!

Thanks

Nicola, thanks for your reply and link to Abbott. I thought that this was probably the case. I find difficulty at times in navigating Abbott website!!!! I am also interested to hear if any Forum members have had any recent experiences.

Thanks again

Peter

I haven't personally been through with a Libre that I can remember but I have been through with a Guardian CGM sensor multiple times which follow the same guidelines. Usually once I get to the section where the full body scanners are I just let the person know who is stood there that I am unable to go through them as per the guidelines from the company, my last experience weirdly the person at the scanner said it was 'fine' to go through the full x-ray but I was having none of it as that's not what any CGM company suggests is safe and I was adamant they needed to do an alternative screening.

Technically I don't think they can deny you an alternative screening if you ask, each time usually they swab your sensors with a test pad and then they pat you down by hand. I also hand the x-ray technicians where your bags through in the trays a little clear plastic bag with my extra sensors in as a precaution to hand swab those as well instead of sending them through x-ray. You just ask at the end to collect them where you collect the trays with your bags.

Nicola, thanks for your reply. Very good information on how to get through airport security checks - hopefully without problems - I'll follow your suggestions......all security staff and airports are similar(but probably have their own idiosyncrasies)!!

As it has been many years since I posted a question can I ask if my post of yesterday is in open forum? Did I post it correctly etc etc? Any advice for a future post by me would be appreciated

Many thanks

Peter

I went through the brand new scanners at Newcastle after the security lady told me they were safe. I didn’t have any problems with the sensor at all.

You started your thread completely correctly on the open forum, and in a relevant section of the forum called 'Ask a Question'. :)

Happy holidays!

Thanks for your reply to my original post.

That's very interesting to hear.

I may try that out of curiosity depending on how many days I have left on sensor before applying a new one. LoL......curious by nature and I like to try to understand how things work(or break). I'll post and update once I've been through airport security if I decide to go through the full body scanner.

Thanks again

Peter
