Freestyle Libre 2 practical question

Hi all - just reading the forum, it is great!

I have a trial period Freestyle Libre 2 and monitoring to my iPhone on their app. Finding it really useful and most importantly , insightful.

Just a minor question on it...bearing in mind it's stuck really fast and has a spike in my arm, when it comes to the time, how do you safely remove it? There's nothing in instructions about that.

It depends on your skin @barrym. It's maybe fine for you to do that, but I seem to remember the nurse doing that to someone on the form,( maybe @becca59 apologies if it wasn't you) and ripping skin off as well.

@ShugShug until you see how your skin reacts, I'd either soak it in the bath or shower, or use baby oil if the edges of the sticky part under the sensor don't peel easily.
 
Yep have to agree with others , just like a plaster and a pair of Chiipendales trousers just rip it off
 
I'm generally ok with my skin and plasters etc..I'll exercise some caution on the first one, but then as other have hinted at, I'll no doubt be ripping them off
 
I always remove my sensors in the shower. I get them very wet and then slowly peel them off allowing more water to get to the glue as I peel.
A few years ago, a physio strongly advised against "ripping off" plasters due to the damage it can do to your skin. His advice was this shower approach I use with my Libre.

I’ve just removed my first one and fitted my second. Neither hurt at all. Make sure you get an alcohol wipe before you fit the next one. I’m rotating arms, so I get to sleep on either side.

What a game changer. My fingers have never been so happy. It’s given me insights too, which so far have resulted in good control, but some post eating spikes were a surprise.
 
There is a sticky part around it so think of it like a plaster and just try and peel it off quickly. When you take the patch off you will still have a bit of the stickiness on your arm but after a couple of showers that comes off.
