Hi I am just going to start on the freestyle libre 2 at end of this month, any recommendations for the wipes I need to use on my arm and what hold on patch’s you buy and where from, thank you I’m in England for buying in shop advise x

I use no wipes or straps.
I make sure my arm is dry and clean with no moisturizer before applying the sensor.
As long as I apply it on a flat part of my arm, it sticks like a limpet.

I am lucky to have sticky skin. Some people have problems and use tegaderm patches or buy reusable 3d printed straps from eBay.

I clean with an alcohol wipe and use a Hypafix/Tegaderm overpatch.

Thank you for your reply I’m not sure which patch you order, lots of choices of Tegaferm
Patches do they all let you test through them ? Sorry new to all this stuff xx kate

Hi,

I exfoliate the site prior whilst showering. Then after drying use "Opti-pro" wipes then allow to dry.
& bang on the sensor avoiding any muscle flex area. I need to tear the puppy off, end of life.

@Liftupjoe Remember, Libre sensors are designed to stick without the need to add extra single use patches to the landfill pile.
The Libre and its applicator provide more than enough waste by themselves.

Unfortunately, some people seem to have the type of skin that needs something extra but, unless you know you definitely have greasy skin on your arms, as a first time user, I would start with the assumption that you can save your money and avoid the extra waste.

Since Abbott stopped supplying wipes I now just use soap and dry well. I do cover, changing at the one week mark. But that is because I swim seriously a couple of times a week for an extended time and the constant repetitive arm pounding will not keep them on.

I use wipes but usually don't need anything to help keep the sensor on. I did buy one individual Tegaderm patch on ebay in case I needed it but it didn't help much on the occasion I needed it. Instead of forking out for a box of Tegaderms I'd just get a couple in case they are needed. Last time I had an issue with the sensor staying on I got some kinesiology tape and cut it to size, I found it much better than the Tegaderm, but have only used it the once so far.
