Hi all!

Just got a newsletter from Abbott about their new Freestyle Libre system.

The message:

With the FreeStyle Libre flash glucose monitoring system, the days of routine glucose testing with lancets, test strips, and blood are over. The system, which will be available to purchase online, uses a sensor worn on the back of the upper arm that lasts up to 14 days to measure, capture and store glucose levels day and night.

Apparently you can wear the sensor for 14 days on your arm and it gives readings from the interstitial fluids (like current CGM). But I think I read somewhere that it's not supposed to be a CGM, because it only gives the reading when you "scan" the reader over the sensor?

Anyone heard anything more about it?

saw an online video on it a while back, not heard anything else. I guess it's a non-c cgm depending how often you want to scan the sensor.

I got the same email. Doesn't say if or when they will be available though
Just done a google search and it implies the latter part of this year, so must almost be there :)

I'm interested how they managed to get results accurate enough to replace blood tests.
There's a * in the email saying that (obviously) the result are.not accurate if bg is changing quickly. Because interstitial fluid doesn't reflect it that fast.
