Hi, if you had a Freestyle Libre, how would you go about testing your limits with it. Would you simply start big and work backwards or the other way around. In other words start with a Mars Bar or a ridiculously sugary / carbs food source first or start at the other end with something comprising lower carbs?

Or would you take a different approach altogether?

Why do you want to find your limits?
I would start with what I want to eat and see what impact it has on my BG and then adjust my diet according to what I observe on the Libre.
If I see a spike, I would avoid eating that again.
If I see no spikes I may start to increase my carbs (if I want to).

(I think "LibrA" is the brand of women's products. You may get on better with a LibrE :))

Thanks. It was a rushed post before gym and daughters swimming lesson.

Limits as in boundaries. No go zones.

So you would advise starting cautiously and working up? I was thinking of just testing a lot of different carbs to see how adverse each response was.

Presumably a log would need to be kept? Am looking for ideas here...

I gave Abbott a call today and established that I can use the app on my iPhone and it does indeed run off NFC just like Applepay. So that’s good news. It is a lot of money to fork out for the sensing device but have decided to go for it.

Hopefully in time this type of blood sugar testing gadget will come down in price.

My suggestion would be to make sure that your BG is stable before you start adding things to your diet. I use a Freestyle Libre and in my experience, adding something like a slice of toast on Sunday morning can affect my BG for several hours, not just the two hours after the meal. That's my experience, yours could be different. I also know that my pancreas is producing insulin in the normal range but my insulin resistance has changed over the years and last month it was over 4. It has been 1.7, 2.4, 1.7 over that last 3 years.
