Type 1 Freestyle libre sensor

Hey Guys!

Diagnosed last year in November as type 1, struggling with pricking my fingers constantly as there getting bruised, I work in an office and sometimes it hurts to type on the computer. What do people think of the Freestyle Libre sensor ?!! Pros and cons please!!

I don't use the Libre myself but there are lots of,users here. While you're waiting for some to reply, you might like to,do a Search as you'll find lots of threads about it

Thanks I Registered in November but haven't really been on here so still trying to find my way round

I've been using the Libre for about 2 and a half years now and find I almost never finger prick unless I am suspicious about the scan, but most of the time I am happy to trust the scans as I don't seem to suffer the problems that some others report. I can't imagine life without it now. I suppose the best thing would be to give it a try and see how you get on. The starter kit is quite cheap and there's no commitment if you don't like it.
 
I was given a free trial sensor by Abbott via dsn. Why not contact your dsn and try for a free trial nothing to lose except of like me you find it incredibly helpful you may have to find ways to fund it. Good luck
 
I *adore* mine. I love it more than is probably reasonable to love an inanimate object, but I am unashamed. It has literally changed my life, and I don't know how I could ever go back to poking holes in myself 8-10 times a day. Knock on wood I never have to!!!

In no particular order, my favourite things about my Libre are:

1. You literally can't feel it at all (I haven't even once felt the needle on insertion either)
2. I find it sticks incredibly well and have never had one fall off or fail
3. It is so discreet
4. I feel like I have so much more information about my diabetes than before and information is power!
 
Thanks guys yeah my dsn has put me on the waiting list to try a free trial on it but I had read loads of negatives like some people still prick their finger to compare so I didn't know if you still had to do both??? Thanks
 
You're meant to prick just to make sure the Libre is being accurate, but not nearly as often as you would have pricked before. I probably prick every couple of days now.

I did quite a lot of finger prick checking when I first got it but now I'm quite confident in trusting it.
