Freestyle libre trial

I get to try the libre with a free sensor on Wednesday. Trying to get a sense of how common problems with sensors falling off are? Should I use things to hold it on immediately or leave the first one and see how it goes?

I find the adhesive is really good, and it's actually difficult to remove it when the 14 days are up.

When you clean the site (with the alcohol wipe) before applying the sensor, be sure to leave it a good 5-10 minutes before application. This allows the site to dry thoroughly.

Excessive sweating is one factor which may impair the sensor's adhesion; if you think that this may be the case for you - then something like this can be placed on top:

That's reassuring thank you think íll try leaving the trial one to its own devices and see what happens
 
Be sure the skin, where you are going to apply the sensor, is clean and dry, free of any oils, body lotions etc. I believe one of the reasons for the alcohol wipes is to be sure there are no oils, even natural body oils, are present which would affect the adhesiveness. Applying to a warm body, but not sweaty, may help plus holding the applicator down for a minute or two before removing and then pressing gently with the flat of your hand for a few more minutes. After all that, you should be find, unless you knock it quite hard.

Thanks for the advice that's really helpful. Think the Abbott representative for the sensor so will watch carefully what they do. I'm really hopeful it will work for me and feel lucky to be offered a free trial.
 
It's worth attaching your sensor on and letting your body get used to it for 24 hours or so before actually activating it. It can be a bit flakey for a while - all mine have given me some (completely inaccurate) very low readings for the first couple of nights before the results stabilized, and other people have also found it best to attach it and wait a day or so to get the most accurate results from it.

And PS I think mine came with superglue! I had no problems with them sticking like a limpet, it was getting them off again that tended to be the issue!
 
Thank you, it's good to know about the inaccuracy when new else I'd be freaking out thinking I'd gone hypo again. Think it will be activated at clinic but I'll remember your tip to delay activation if it works out and I buy another ;-)
