Sometimes the application process can just nick a tinay capillary and bleed a bit more than usual - a bit like we can sometimes have a spurter when we do a finger prick test.

In your shoes, I'd leave the sensor alone and see how it feels in the morning. Hopefully by then your arm will feel more ocmfy.

Do you usually wait a few hours before activating your sensors? If you don't, and haven't activated it so far, then again in your shoes, I would consider deferring to let things settle down a bit.

Personally, I always leave 24-48 hours before activating mine as that seems to improve the performance.

I'm sure others will have views too. Fingers crossed for you.

i have activated already but only because i was never told to leave it? i was told to activate straight away, this is only my second time

Don't worry about the blood, it doesn't matter. People even reported that 'bleeders are the best readers'. Just check your sensor against finger prick tests a couple of times to get to know this particular sensor :)

Emily - Not everyone does this, and Abbott don't advertise it, although they have no objections to people doing it.

My body seems to go into a bit of overdrive if I have a foreign body present, like a splinter, or in this case the filament, and it goes into a sort of reject mode, which works really well for a splinter, but is less convenient with the filament. After 24-48 hours it seems more accepting of the filament.

Whilst in what I call reject mode (self-coined descriptor) my readings can be very erratic, but like all things, not everybody is the same.

I'd definitely agree with @Antje77 and I'd reckon it'll be just fine.

it’s only been in for about 3 hours and my blood sugar went to about 6.8 quickly and then back up to 9 now. but my libre is saying 2.9 straight arrow down??

Fully agree , mine seem to work fine after 16 hours after inserting or so. When I activate straight away it always thinks I'm hypo for the whole first night. Scared the s**t out of me the first time as well.

Keep an eye on it. If you need to call Abbott about it, they usually seem to like you to have persevered with it for at least 24 hours to allow any potential "settling".

In your shoes, I'd be doing some finger prick testing, particularly if your Libre is being inconsistent.

I just got my first sensor yesterday evening, bled... wondered what would happen, saw readings plummet to lo for an hour, then unable to get readings. called Abbot this morning, and they said to apply a new sensor, and they'd send me a replacement. Now, later today, it started showing readings again, but showing lo again... and not yet accurate. I'll give it a day, and see how it goes.
