Why is it that the bolus advisor on the freestyle libre only works once a blood test has been done. Surely that is defeating the object it would be much better if it works once a scan has been done instead.

Same as a CGM there's a chance it might not be an accurate reading so you test and inject, sounds like a very good safety device.

The Libre isn't considered suitable for pre-driving or insulin calculation readings. On that basis, if the technology isn't in it, you can't use it for at least your bolusing.
 
That's why some of us use Open Source projects to do this.... They allow bolusing off the basal IOB and the CGM data, but then, you have to build them yourself and understand the risks involved...
