Freestyle Navigator trouble

Having just received my new Freestyle Navigator I'm a bit annoyed because I can't get it to work properly.
I assembled all parts and inserted the sensor according to the instructions, calibrated the device and did manage to get continous readings... For about one hour, but at least I know that all parts work.
After one hour, I was asked to do another blood test, but got the helpful message "Alarms disabled. Retest BG in 3h."; I also got the same error the 7 other times I have been asked to do a blood test since then (including at 0300 today, and fasting at 0800 today).
I'd imagine that changing the sensor might help, but am reluctant to do so because I'm afraid that'll just burn another sensor without fixing the problem.

I'd call Abbott customer support but their lines are (helpfully) only open Mon-Fri from 9-5. Any suggestions?

I phoned customer support - apparently it can take up to day to get readings (due to trauma from sensor insertion or something).
The two sensors I have used since then worked fine though.
