I have recently noticed a connection between frequent peeing and moderately high blood sugars, eg.
* if I have to get up once for a pee during the night, my pre breakfast BG reading is between 5.5 and 6.5
* if I have to get up twice for a pee during the night my pre breakfast BG reading is around 7 or over
If I do not need to get up for a pee during the night my pre breakfast BG reading will be under 5.5

I thought a few weeks back that maybe getting up during the night was the cause of higher BG reading, but ruled this out by testing at 4:00am one morning when I did not need a pee and my pre breakfast reading at 7:30am was virtually the same, both a touch under 5.5.

After yesterday's lunch I noticed I had to wee very frequently (5 times in 5 hrs!). I had a roast beef carvery (no York pudding, pots, carbs etc) but they had little veg so I took a big helping of cauliflower cheese. Tested my BG levels after an hour, 8.7, after two hrs 6.3. Normally I would expect a reading of around 6 after an hour after a low carb meal...... The cauliflower cheese obviously was high carb.

Today's lunch, much the same as yesterday's, with virtually the same drinks (but no cauliflower cheese), and just one wee in 6hrs after lunch.

A few months back I saw my GP re. Frequent peeing. (He did a few tests, ultrasound etc, nothing wrong, and recommended Drinking less tea but more water), back then my pre breakfast sugar levels were around 7, now they are averaging just under 6 and (until yesterday afternoon, thought his recommendation was working)...... But I am now sure it is nothing to do with drinking, and all due to higher sugar levels.

Is this normal?
Anyone else noticed similar findings?

Diagnosed T2 in sept 2013, BS levels 20+. BMI 22, age 58. Requested a GAD test in November, came back very high 2,000+, doc said I would be T1 very soon, but presently LADA.

Isn't frequent urination a common symptom of high BS? It sounds like you are very in tune with your body and what happens after more carbs. Do you keep any track of how many carbs you're eating? If so, is there a correlation between nights when you pee more and more carbs during the previous day?

Frequent urination is a symptom of high blood sugars, but I always thought this occurred when in double figures and not mid 5s. I am on a LcHf diet, so carbs are very low, and only around 10g for evening meal. It is my protein intake that effects my BG levels now. High protein at breakfast / lunch can still affect my pre breakfast levels the next day.

I've been weeing for Scotland or so it seems. Hardly ever had to get up in the middle of the night till last Spring when in one week it happened every night... soon after was diagnosed. Gone LcHishF, constipated and drinking like a fish and weeing regular... thought about recording slashs as well as everything else but not gone that far. Not noticed a relationship between BG and slashs yet.. still trying to understand where my BG's are at the moment.
