Fresh pasta disaster.

I had fresh pasta today, the package said that 1/4 pack portion (125gr) was 31,6gr carb, which is odd as 125gr of pasta is a large portion. I injected accordingly and ended 17.5 at 3h!
Any ideas on why the labelling indicates so few carbs ? ImageUploadedByDCUK Forum1432047908.131209.jpg

No, I just went by the indication that 1/4 pack should be 31gr carb , so just visually weighted

No its the cooked weight that you want to take notice of, there's some really good apps around as well as books like Carbs & Cals and the Calorie Carb & Fat Bible which are a good reference guide.

Thanks @noblehead. So you think they messed up with the 1/4 pack = 31g and I should have weighted the cooked pasta myself? I find it very challenging to weight pasta after cooked but before mixing sauce..

It's a bit late for you now, sorry, but the carb count for fresh pasta , pre cooking ( according to Cook & Count ) is 55.5g carb per 100g .

Dried, pre cooking is 73g per 100g .

I hope that's useful for you in using up the rest of the pack !:)

Thanks signy on a side note today is one of those days that makes me want to stop being adventurous and stick to eating cardboard. After 17 now I'm 2.6 and nibbling haribos. I'm scheduled for a pump demo soon and hope I can get on it and make life easier

You are welcome :)

Life is never ending fun and joy , living with the D beastie (!)
Great news about your pump ! :D I hope you get it soon ! Oh and the cardboard is fab with marmite and cheddar spread , lightly grilled :D

I always weigh the pasta after cooking (or my wife does if making our dinner) as we make pasta for all the family so unless I used a separate pan I wouldn't know the carb value.

With reference to your pump trial, you'll find if you move to a pump you can bolus much easier for difficult meals such as those that are high in fat as you can use features on the pump like Extended Boluses or even TBR's (temporary basal rates) if preferred.

I might give that a go, usually I weight it dry and split portions with my wife by eye later, it's hit and miss particularly because there is a late peak at about 3h with dry pasta (for me).

I understand that my pump demo is more of a class in the hospital rather than a take home test, not sure how much fighting and lobbying it might take me to actually get one :D

Just cut and pasted this nutrition info from the Tesco site. It's for Fresh egg taliatelle The packet actually weighs 350g but the nutrition count applies to the cooked product
Shows how confusing it is but at least they are trying to clarify it

Thanks for that Phoenix, These numbers make sense., I should have weighted it rather than trust the 1/4 pack reference.
