I must admit to being a bit weird. I HATE the summer. I hate the sun. I hate the long days. Roll on October!!

- my gold fish aren't impressed with the heron!
We have one of your namesakes RRB, a pair of wrens live in amongst the pots, owls, (and a pair of mad bats!) the most incredible gold finches ( - I had to look them up, I couldn't believe I was seeing a polka dot bird!!) and just about everything else you can think of. We are lucky, but it can get awful noisy!
- we get lots of wild ponies and sheep too!

I used to be like that when I lived in Hertfordshire. When it started to snow I would stand with my head tilted back and my eyes closed feeling the snow flakes landing on my face. Now I am old and decrepit and living in Cornwall I think the gentle summers are kinder than a gentle winter. My friend has much wildlife visiting her garden. The badgers dig many holes in the lawn, she don't mind. The moles leave some hills here and there, that's all right. A horse got in the garden on Christmas day and destroyed the lawn. All this wildlife including birds, mice and voles (some sort of small furry thing anyway) all pay a visit. When we pick runner beans (not yet but getting closer) there are bees buzzing round telling us which bean to pick, we get on very well with bees and we planted a large area of wild flowers at the front of the house. My friend now finds it difficult to get out of her drive. When we go for walks we stroke cats whenever we see one. If you are ever in Cornwall RRB, pop in for a cuppa and a chat. The views from my friends garden are lovely. Hundreds of acres of farmland (not hers!) with a sprinkling of derelict engine houses.
Lee.
