Friend with diabetes

Hi, one of my friends has Type 1 diabetes.

I was reading up on diabetes on the GlucoMen website: glucomen.co.uk/index.php?p=75&pp=0

I have a lot to learn to understand, for example does she take insulin, does she do blood level monitoring, what exactly happens to her blood glucose, etc etc

I thought I would find out more so I have joined this board. I look forward to reading your posts.
 
Hi, if your friend is T1 then yes, she will take insulin and monitor her blood sugar levels. Does your friend prefer not to talk about her diabetes or is she quite open about it? If she's happy to talk about it then I'm sure she wouldn't mind you asking her some questions. I know I certainly don't mind people asking me things because I know they are doing it out of interest and are trying to learn more about the condition.

It's very nice that you're educating yourself about diabetes because of your friend. I'm sure she will appreciate you taking tthe time to do so; so if she's OK about it, don't feel the need to never mention it to her. She might be glad to talk about it.
