help. just started taking my sugar levels earlier this week and on the whole they've been fine however, this morning and yesterday morning my readings first thing were 5.2 and 5.3 respectively BUT after having the same thing for breakfast both days - 2 slices of toast (granary), cup of milky coffee and a small bowl of kellogs crunchy nut cereal my 2 hour readings were 6.7 yesterday and 14.6 today, they're now down to 6 and 5.6 but why such a huge jump today? Thanks of a the responses i've had to other questions, it's been very helpful.

Oooo ..bread and crunchy nut .. My numbers would be higher than yours !
I expect your body was In denial yesterday !

My spike would be going towards the moon if I ate so many carbs and sugars.

Have a look around the forum for other things to eat for breakfast.

There are a lot of factors... Here are a few that have an effect:

Activity levels
Stress/excitement levels
Time lapsed between 'first thing' reading and 'after food' reading
Portion size
Hormone stuff
Amount of butter/jam on toast
Sleep deprivation
Exercise levels during last 24 hrs...

It ends up being more of an artistic interpretation than a mathematical equation.
