Hello!

1) I have some ready meals which I put from the fridge to the freezer on the day that they expire. If I defrost them after e.g. a week, how long it will last in the fridge before going off?

2) How long does it take to defrost something by putting it from the freezer to the fridge?

3) Can cooked fish, potatoes, rice be frozen and defrosted or they become unedible?

Thanks!

1) eat them on the day you defrost they won’t keep as you froze them on the expiry date and freezing can deteriorate food slightly.

2) how longs a piece of string? A joint of meat will take at least 24hrs, a portion of veg about an hour, you are referring to ready meals probably 8 -12 hrs

3) I wouldn’t freeze cooked fish unless it’s an “ingredient” eg in a pie or sauce but it can be frozen raw as long as it’s very fresh and you defrost in fridge. Potatoes I never find successful as theY break up because of the high water content creates large ice crystals. The exception is mashed pots which freeze ok, rice never frozen rice and wouldn’t advise it

01: I take precooked meals out of the freezer on the same day I want to eat it.
02: I defrost food in a microwave as per the instruction manual.
03 I have frozen / defrosted precooked potatoes and rice with no problems, any left over fish gets put in the fridge and eaten next day.
