Hi,
I would really like to hear from anyone that's been through a similar time to us please,
My husband has had Type 1 for 29years, been on insulin pump for 3 years, generally has had very good daily control,
he now has two frozen shoulders, (taken 14months to become frozen) Dr thinks related to sports injuries when he was younger, two weeks ago he got to the stage where he was unable to move either arm because of the pain, he had a steroid injection into both shoulders 7 days ago, which gave him a little movement back so that he can now do a few things by himself, he sees a physio next week
we were aware the steroid could make the blood sugars rise and have kept a close eye on them, they were quite high for the first 4 days and now seem to have settled into being high all day, around 10,13,14 , by bedtime they have come down to 7 and on waking they are around 6.5 they then start to rise again throughout the day and repeat that pattern
I'm starting to think that possibly this isn't the steroid anymore but maybe because of the change in my husbands daily routine and that perhaps his pump settings need changing ?
My husband is off work at the moment as he's still in too much pain to do anything and due to the limited movement in his arms wouldn't be able to do anything, he's at home all day, either sitting/lying down or may walk around the house but isn't doing anything very physical so I'm thinking that this may be the cause of the new reading pattern ?
He is going to speak to his diabetic nurse later today to see what she thinks,
But I would be grateful for any advice or opinions on the sugar levels and also on the frozen shoulder, I do know quite alot about it and how it progresses etc but hearing from anyone who's been through it would be helpful
