Hi,
I've been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes since July 2017. I was advised to check the Diabetes UK site by a doctor and advised to check my diet because even though I was on 4 Metformin a day my blood sugar was not coming down. I decided to go on the low carb high fat diet and have lost 10kg and I am very well. But when I went for a test I was told that my blood sugar is still high and they wanted to add another medicine which I refused. I've been testing my blood sugar level and has always been under 5mmol when fasting. I've never been 6 when fasting. I also check before and after meals (90 minutes after eating) and always under 8. I don't understand why they say my blood sugar is high when my own tests indicate otherwise.
According to them the normal HbAlc test doesn't work for me and they use Fructosamine Test. Can anyone tell me how reliable the Fructosamine test is? Am I doing right for refusing additional medication? I am very well and no hypos. I do lots of exercises and walk whenever possible. Any advice would be appreciated.
