Scrooge . People who are always feeling sorry for themselves . The NHS . The benefit agency .Atttention seekers on forums or chat rooms.
Hi type 2 .i hada a good day yesterday all my levels were under 10 (good for me) also my fast test was lowest ever @6.0 8) Anyway had a cracking brecky cumberland sausage egg bacon and b/beans and black pudding all grilled . So you know the score youve got up had a belter of a score and a brecky ((bang!)) next reading after the two hours 13.8 . Since learning a bit more on the forum i personally am trying to avoid the carbs dieting sensibly and averaging 2-3 lbs / wk weight loss (due to another health problem i can't excersize) or spell 6 wks since diagnoses and to be honest i'm p****d off i don't feel like i'm winning .All my DN is bothered about is a b****y course that i don't want to attend . From what i can gather everyone else is started off with metformin i'm on gliclazide 2x80mg pre breckki and 2x80mg pre tea.
Every time my tests come under the 10 i think "aha i've got you cracked mr t2 diabetiees you" guess what ((BANG)) high tests again." "THE SWINE  "
Anyway sorry to be complaining so much and thanks for reading my topic.
JF.

My guess is that the Cumberland sausage, baked beans and Black pudding would have contributed to the 13.8 after breakfast they all contain carbs. The fact that you grilled them instead of frying makes no difference to the carb level only the fat level.

I thought we could eat meat etc. (was it the beans?)

Processed meats contain carbohydrates......get yourself a carb counter book and check out the amounts.

Baked Beans contain 15.9g carbs per 100g. There is even a small amount of carbs in Eggs, dependent on the size and how cooked. Even the Bacon could contain carbs, again depending on how it was processed........

I knew sausages contained carbs but wasn't certain what was in Black Pudding-found this :
BLACK PUDDING
Ingredients:
1 quart pig's blood
1 quart milk
three quarters pound bread crumbs
1 cup cooked barley
a half pound suet
1 cup dry oatmeal
salt and pepper to taste
1 ounce powdered mint

So basically a 'carb' pudding then.

Thanks
i will order one .

Average Black Pudding contains 19g carbs per 100g weight.

Glad I'm not the only one having a wobble this week! Perhaps it's the weather? It's raining icicles here
I'm trying hard to believe that this is only a blip and next week will be better
Hope your week improves

Hi summermum
Thanks for your sharing of the (blip) I as you have read feel very deflated at the mo .Maybe we should look at our weight loss rather than bloods .Don't forget you mentioned the dieting thing  .I feel like i've been to a retro rave . We are mabye trying too much . :?

That's part of what's making me fed up!!!! I'm living like a nun and still haven't lost any bxxxxxxdy weight! Iguess I just need a reward for being good

@ Summermum. When I was first diagnosed, my GP said don't worry about losing weight, just concentrate on keeping your bg low and getting fit. So that's what I did. I don't worry too much about fat content, so I eat nice cheese, bananas and strawberries and cream for treats. I try to eat low carb foods and I exercise 3 times a week. Doing this has got my bg down from 20 when first diagnosed to an hbac1 of 6.5 and I have lost over 30 kgs. I even manage the occasional 'normal' treat, such as a very small slice of chocolate cake at my friends birthday the other day. I really do believe it's all about getting the balance right and if I am good 99% of the time, I can afford to be naughty the other 1%.

wow@30 kg that is a superb show of your focus. I hope that i could achieve that . Its not that i eat much (still learning the +&- of it all .Manythanks for your post JF

Thanks JF . I don't have super will power or anything. Just found that low carbing really helped everything and made the rest easy(ish). Once you start seeing results, it's much easier to keep to the right path, I guess. Sorry, just started laughing because I guess my will power is stronger than my husbands! He has high cholesterol but has just walked in with a bowl of fruit and DOUBLE CREAM!! Apparently 'cos I have it, he should be able to have it!
