Furious with my mum's doctors!

Typical nicksu . It's ridiculous bulkbiker. No wonder her diabetes is so bad and she manages it so badly. No matter wat I say to her she believes everything the gp and dn say even down to high carb. I despair.

When I went for my 6 month test in January they didn't even bother with the hba1c but the DN said that my random level, which they did test, was good as it was 4.2!!

I too am worried about fasting,i dont need to for the yearly test.If i dont eat regularly i go low on the levels. If i eat at middday then intend to eat at 18.00 or slighty later,i feel the shakes coming and then test, finding im low.So a fear of nightime starving, then the waiting in line at the local hospital, might put me in panic mode.

Are you on any medication? Your profile doesn't show it? And Type 1 or 2 or other?

I was told to go for my test a week before my appointment - the irony was that the docs had the result back the next day!
Well providing I have them takn by 13:00hrs, they appear back at my GP's the next day. AS I refuse non fasting tests, the i bl**dy have my test in the a.m.

I find that my BG rises before my waking time (06:00 to feed & exercise the animals) and then falls to a comfortable 5.0 before any of the surgery staff crawl out of their beds for the 09;00 appointments my bloods don't fall to low levels, unless I have a late night snack which stops my dawn phenomenon!

My doctors have stopped using fasting blood tests - apart from ones for cholesterol. the HBAC1 test will not be affected by fasting on the morning so you shouldn't need to fast. Diabetics anyway shouldn't fast for this test - all this will give is an inaccurate test of sugars at the exact time - since your liver will have done a glucose dump to get you moving on the morning, testing is a waste of time apart from the HBAC1.
