A group of G.P. Practices has won a £10m contract to provide a full community service for patients with Diabetes from April 2014.

Worth reading the comments as well. Some refer to the rationing of strips for Type 1 diabetics.

Worth noting the cases that strips were limited to type 1s was WRONGLY done so by gps misinterpreting guideliness that apply to type 2s (still wrong imho)
so don't panic, type 1s should NOT be restricted and if you are speak to your dsn/consultant.
