There are a variety of side effects, probably too many to elaborate on. What it's used for in diabetics is neuropathy primarily. The drug was not primarily designed for that. Whether it works or not is not really consistent IMHO. I don't think it can do any significant harm, if it doesn't work they just stop taking it.

- Poor grammar, bullying and drunks.
I have been taking Gabapentin for some time. It is known to cause a (slight?) rise in bg. I have no untoward side effects from taking it and use it for a condition other than Diabetes.

I take gabapentin for pain, I haven't noticed any side effects.
