So for the sake of £20 that the hospital saved I've been lumbered with insulin pens for the rest of my life? Cant see C-peptide on the list howeverI would still try to get a GAD anti body test
Not too expensive really, I'd pay £20 for peace of mind http://www.ouh.nhs.uk/immunology/diagnostic-tests/tests-catalogue/gad-antibodies.aspx
Like you I have type 1 and type 1.5 in my immediate family. I was reading the other day that being GAD positive and a close relative of type 1 does not mean you will get type 1. This was on the website of of hospital test information for doctors.
Found it here:http://www.southend.nhs.uk/pathology-handbook/test-directory/test-directory-g-index/gad-antibodies/
Am I reading this right?
I would still try to get a GAD anti body test if I could. I would want to know especially down the line if low carb stops working.

Ive just found this weblink for a private blood test for C-peptide. I'm going to pay it if GP surgery wont test for this. (but I cannot see GAD listed.I'll email them) https://privatebloodtests.com/c-peptide-bmi-blood-test.htmlSo for the sake of £20 that the hospital saved I've been lumbered with insulin pens for the rest of my life? Me for oneWe seem to have a few members that are concerned they have been misdiagnosed.

CostI think you might find that's what it costs for the tests to be done in the NHS
