Hi All. I am new to the forum.
3 weeks ago I started having chills, fever, abdominal pain that continued to my groin. I knew this was potentially from a very bad meat that I ate.
I spoke to my GP, but I had thought a urologist would be best to see due to urinating issues. We did CT scans for kidney stones, etc. but they came back negative.
The issue continued. Horrible adnominal pain, urinating less, always tired and sometimes diarrhea. A&E blood test showed no infection and blood works good.
I decided to reintroduce a big meal (eggs, bread, fats) and that upset my stomach so much that I saw a gastroenterologist .
I have been potentially diagnosed with post infection IBS. We have further test to conduct to fully diagnose and blood works to come.
I have seen a lot of info on Gastroparesis, but my pain is on the left hand side of my abdominal and not the center where I have read Gastroparesis occurs.
I am freaking out, because my blood sugars are difficult to manage during this period. I cannot feel low sugar episodes, but my monitor sends me alerts so it saves me (losing a lot of fat has made me more sensitive to insult, so I have had to reduce my units a lot). I am always tired & cold, but I wake up from sleep when I am a deep sleeper. I do not want to eat ANYTHING, but I am losing weight (lost 7lbs in 3 weeks). Feel nauseated and gasses, movements in abdominal when waking up. while my stool is difficult to get out, it was diarrhea before. Now have headaches and back pain.
Any other diabetics had post infection IBS? How long did it last? How did you manage it? Cannot talk to diabetic team, as they cancelled my appointment this month for September 2023!
About me: type 1 for 14 years. Decent Blood levels - 6.2-6.8
