My mother had type2 diabetes now i have, does this mean my children have an increased risk of developing it in the future? Is this more likely from mother to daughter, father to son? If this is so,would it not be helpful, cost effective to warn family of potential future problems so they could maximise their chances of not developing diabetes. This may be the case in some areas of the country but not in my gp practice.
Hi. Genes do have an influence on diabetes but there are so many that have been implicated so far that it's very complex. Excess weight will result in T2 if you have a bad mix of genes, so keep the weight down with low-carbing and the risk is reduced
On my father's side he had type2 stick thin my Nan had it on mother's side my grandad had it and my aunt has it all type 2 now I have it so I would it say it's inherited
