Getting a Libre to work with a smartwatch

I've got a Freestyle libre prescription now on the NHS, sweet so far. Everything is going well with it. I have purchased the Blucon Nightrider so it'll send 5-minutely glucose readings to my phone. I want to know is there a way for the blood glucose readings to be sent to a smart-watch (presumably without the need for the phone, for during sports for example). This way I can have a handy visual cue of my sugars at all times. I'd prefer a kind of cheap smart watch, something like the Pebble Time, I don't really see the need to get an expensive Apple Watch where a cheaper option would do. Thanks in advance.

Hi. I wouldn’t get an Apple Watch as the app linking the blucon to iPhones and watches is still in the development phase. Cheers Leeanne

If you're using the Bluecon NightRider with the Libre, you'll need to use either Spike on iPhone or xDrip+ on Android.

@Scott-C should be able to provide all the details.

Cheers, Tim, by spooky coincidence, I was just looking at this thread while sitting on the tram! Will do a post for the op later as my stop is just coming up.

Hi, @hydroxy , I'm using blucon with the android app xDrip+ and a Fossil Q Explorist watch, so I get a graph and number like the pic below.

The app has a function called, "Enable Wear Collection Service" which is meant to let the watch act independently of the phone when the phone's out of range, but it seems to still be a work in progress and the lead developer, jamorham, is writing customised tweaks for different watch types. At the link below, there's some discussion of the issue and a link to a page showing the watches he's got it working for. My one hasn't been done yet. Although note that xdrip+ was primarily designed to work with dexcom, so I'm not sure whether the tweaks mentioned will be ok with blucon.

I've also put a link to the watch set up guide. As well as having Android Wear on the phone, you also need to download onto the watch itself the xdrip wear component from the Play-Store. I missed that bit to start with as I'm new to smartwatches.

I've not used the official linkblucon app for a long time, preferring xdrip+, so I don't know the current state of play with that, but I'm pretty sure there's some photos on their twitter/facebook showing it running on watches.

Good luck with it - I've found it pretty handy for just having a quick glimpse at the watch every now and then instead of dragging the phone out.

My hospital is requesting to obtain a Libre for me. I do not even remember when I got the expert. All I remember it was sometime in March most likely.
