I have had diabetes for 3 years I am on janumet and insulin at night. I managed quite well at first then my blood sugar started to go back up again. When I watch my diet and exercise I can get it back down.
When I am at a normal BS I really do not feel well almost like a low, my doctors says my body must ajust and it will take awhile for my body to get used to being normal. I feel much better when its a bit higher.
Does anyone else have this problem . How long will it take to ajust to being normal?
my BS are Canadian so they run from 6-11 I feel so much better at11 But should be 6 or below to be heathy so I am told. Would appreciate any advise or answers or maybe similar feeling.

Hi lavender-blue. When I was diagnosed my levels were very high but I had no symptoms at all and when my levels dropped again I didn't feel any different. It is important to keep your levels lower as at 11 you will start to get side effects. Do you feel unwell because you are not eating enough as that could cause you to feel unwell.

Thank you for your reply I too was diagnosed out of the blue and was very high. So who knows really how long I was high and it was never picked up as I had lots of blood taken etc. I do try to eat regularly and I watch my diet and exercise. I have been told so many times it will take time for the body to get used to getting my blood sugar normal and that I would not feel well until that happens so I guess I just take it day by day and get it down to a level that my body likes and feels good.

I was told that I had probably been diabetic for 8 to 10 years and that it suddenly gets worse so maybe I would soon have got symptoms; I hadn't had a blood test for about 27 years!!! Are you doing the low carb high fat diet? The NHS recommended diet with the plate of a third veg, a third carbs and a third protein would have killed me. I can't eat carbs, just protein, veg and fat. You may find if you increase your good fats you will feel better.
