Yes my medical team say the same to me .. I have the addition of a bad heart as well .. But cutting out the carbs and throwing away all low fat foods ...and eating full fats has given me my life back ..eating to the Drs guide lines I raised my weight by 2st and my sugar levels from 6.5 to around 23.9 and was so unwell, to follow the Drs eating advice I had to increase my carb count to higher than I was before my diabetes. I then went really low carb for a few weeks and high ish fats .. My sugar levels started to tumble ..then I increased to the 20g of carbs a day and lost weight ..sugars are stable and I feel better that I have for years. I see a friend who was T2 at the same time as me and he is going down hill .. Fast .. Doing what his dr tells him on more and more medication ..eating carbs to his eat well plate shown from the dr .. But he won't try anything without his dr saying it's ok .. They (Drs) won't do that as they have to follow the government advice on eating ..that is wrong. This is your life and taking control of your health can be a bit daunting without the backing of your dr ..but at the end of the day it's your decision Edit to add ... I was also ordered to eat fruit .. This is also a Nono ..berries are ok will full fat cream .. Forget what we are told is a balanced diet .. It's not healthy for diabetecs. I asked my DNS about the Newcastle diet to halt my T2.. She said she had never heard of it and it must me a load of rubbish ..I must eat lots of carbs & fruit and meat :( I told her five times I am vegetarian
