Getting Test Strips

(My Brief History)

I received my news mid Jan 2013, after very sudden eye problems and a repeated infection.
My H1ac were in the late 80's 10ish average I think. Straight away I was given 2x 500mg Metformin & Statins.
I don't have a problem with cholesterol at the moment so I haven't taken them.
I have only stuck with 1 metformin in the evening because 1) they seemed to make me tired 2) I am a nightmare for drugs, even if I have a headache I forget to take something for it. Plus I'd like the chance to do my best with this.

Since that day I have not drunk alcohol, smoked, eaten anything produced except some smoked fish. No dairy, low carbs.
Fish, nuts some oats and veg are my main diet now. I'm down from 14.8 stone to 12.7 in 7 weeks, started running and trying to get a 5 mile run down to 20mins from 75mins @ 36min to date. I would like to hit 11.5 stone to come back up to 12ish before my next Ha1c test.

Everyday so far has been a massive workout, trying to run my own business with a family of 2 small boys.

I have been using a test machine to find out what is going on with my BS (The doctor said just take the metformin that will take care of the most part & watch what you eat) Not good enough for me I'm afraid.

On the whole most of the day until yesterday I float in the 5.2-6.0 region, sometimes as low as 3.7 and 4.5 - 4.8. After waking it's 5.6 - 6.1 (I never wake up chilled, always a rush). I tried some porridge which took me to 9.8 and then down to 4.8 2 hours later. The last 2 days I have been up in the late 6'es - 7'ns. Not sure why.

I have tried on 2 occasions to put an argument forward to get test strips but have been faced with a counter argument each time.

Has anyone got a good valid argument for this?
 
Well as u seem to have good control tho watch going under 4 to much i think thats why. Ive been given 2 meters n strips 3 wks ago cos of high BS even on 3 different pills. Plus i so using SD Codefree meter which measures higher anyway. Ive only had 1 3.9 n 4.4 mainly 9- 15 even on low ish carbs n meds etc.
