Just wondered if anyone else diagnosed with glaucoma ?
I was called back after retina screening and after further tests told I had this . I have an appointment in March for more tests and at the moment putting drops in twice a day. Has anyone else got it I just wondered what to expect .

I'll 'bump' your post up the forum Connie in the hope you get some replies.

Me , my mother and brother have got this :(
It is unrelated to diabetes and is peripheral field vision damaging .
Increased occular eye pressure cause the changes .

I find stress can make my eye pressure go upwards .
I reduce any stress factors to prevent this the best that I can do .

Changes within the field surrounding vision can happen with glaucoma .
The hospital monitor any changes using the field vision tests .
They test my field vision at each appointment .

Thanks Anna
I was told by my consultant that being diabetic increases your chance of glaucoma but I have not seen any posts on here regarding it. Have your relations eyesight deteriorated since being diagnosed? My big fear is losing my sight eventually .

Only my brother had further vision problems .
He let the stress win - had to learn to prevent this .
Changed his job to part time , works from home more now .

Stress can and does raise the occular eye pressure easily .

Mum and me are on same occular medication and stress/pressure reduce tracks .
Mum isnt diabetic - I am !
So my battle is harder for it .
Blurry eyesight is a symptom of diabetes with raised BG levels anyways .
My long/distance site vision is more affected [so use prescription glasses] when driving .

I suddenly lost my sight in one eye when a vein in the central part of that eye suddenly became blocked. At my examination in the local hospital it was subsequently discovered that unknown to me at the time, I also had 'Glucoma' present in both my eyes.
This was in 1997, since when I have been taking various types of eye drops on a regular basis to preserve what still remains of my sight. I was not aware that I had 'Glucoma' until this point in time as the effect of 'Glaucoma' is generally a very slow onset over a lengthy time period.
Diabetes was also suspected, as anyone being diabetic runs an increased risk of their developing 'Glaucoma' but in my case diabetes wasn't confirmed until 3 years later.
You will probably find that you will need to take regular eye-drop medication throughout your life, and should you have difficulty in getting the eyedrops onto targer, there is an excellent device availabe that can help position the eyedrop bottle over the eye before releasing the eyedrop. It can be obtained through the pharmacy and is called the AUTODROP. I used to waste countless eyedrop until I found this item.
Any peripheral visual field damage that has already occured unfortunately cannot be restored and I myself now only have the upper half of my vision still remaining in the one 'Good Eye'. However please stick with and regularly use the prescribe eyedrops and attend every follow up at the eye clinic or hospital as this will ensure you keep what sight you still have.
Glaucome is much like Diabetes, in that both condition are very frightning when first discovered, but if it's any help, don't worry unduly, I was diagnosed in 1997 and my sight is fortunately still holdng out.
