Been on a combo of 3000mg of Metformin and 90mg a day for the last 4 years. Last week I got a bit of a breakout on my face and cheeks of very small spots/pimples and my BS started to stay high, not sure if they are related. I was so used to seeing excellent results; 4s, 5s regularly. Nothing had changed in my diet. Would the combo of meds suddenly stop working so well? I expected it might be gradual. For instance I had 2 scrambled eggs this morning with a slice of wholemeal toast and got a reading of 12.5, 2 hours later. I can't fathom this out.

I must presume the 90mg in your post is the Gliclazide dose. This is an unusual value if you are in the UK since this med comes in 40 or 80mg tablets.

I was until recently on a similar cocktail and having good results, but no spotty dog side effects. Due to other health issues, I have had to drop the Metformin and my bgl rose by an average of 1.5 mmol/l.

It is not a symptom I have seen being reported here before, so it might indicate a non-medication issue has arisen such as an infection or bacterial breakout. Could it be hives? The rise in bgl could indicate an infection of some sort.

Have you had your kidney function checked recently since Metformin can give issues if the eGFR is low? Metformin used long-term can have issues with vitamin B12 deficiency, which could be a factor. Has your level been checked recently? Metformin can also led to a buildup of lactic acid in the blood if your kidneys are weak

The Glic dose is quite low and I used to be on 320 mg for a couple of years without issues.
