Anyone else in UK been affected by the Humalog shortage? I’ve not been able to get any for three months in a row, no comms from anyone at pharmacy, GP or from diabetes team. Luckily I’ve had spare vials but I’m so low on stock now I’ve had to ask for novorapid as an alternative . Just seems bonkers as us types ones will be dead in hours without insulin!!!

According to the diabetes UK website (https://www.diabetes.org.uk/about-u...-you-need-know-about-insulin-supply-issues-uk) there is a shortage of a few different insulins. A quick google search also does suggest Humalog is in short supply/out of stock until possibly the end of July.

Most people (pharmacies, GP, diabetes team) probably are aware of the shortages but pharmacies and GP’s can’t just swap your medication and unless you call your team they probably won’t tell you as they have a lot of people on insulin. It’s up to us to make sure we have stock and if we think we are running low to request an alternative as there’s plenty of options available.

According to the information above, it's only the vials of humalog that are affected, so you could get the cartridges.

Hi cjm039

Like I was unable to get Humalog for some time and had to use Novorapid. The pharmacy I use managed to get me Humalog about a month ago so not sure if things are now improving. Fingers crossed

I've had to use 3ml vials of humalog. Changing insulin is a no, no as humalog is the only one that doesn't cause me any problems. Hopefully they be back in stock soon.
