Hi @Morag12, Welcome to the forums.

How long have you been on this medication?

Hi and welcome @Morag12 :)

Glucient is a brand name for Metformin slow release, 500mg
Metformin is known to cause a bit of gastric upset in some people, especially while they are getting used to the tablets.
The slow release version is kinder on the guts than the quick release versions, and many people report that after a period of adjustment, their tummies settle down and they become symptom free.

So you may find that it is just a passing phase.

Some people do find that they don't adjust, and that they need to approach their doc for an alternative medication, but I would give it a longer trial before you took that step.

Have you had a good read of the patient info leaflet that comes with the tablets? There is a lot of information in there that is very useful, including the list of contraindications to look out for, and the way to eat while on Glucient. This includes eating spread through the day and taking the tablets with food - so well worth a read.

Hope that helps.
