Hi ! ,
I'm taking glucophage , been taking them for awhile now but they do nothing for me , in fact the come out the same as they go in , not even disolved , this is every day , I tell my Diabetes team & they seem to think that this is okay but where's the benefit , cause dhiorea more than anything else
dosage is 2000mg daily!
I can't see any benefit in taking them , is there anything out there that works , I'm also on Humalog & Glargine , readings always high , last HB1AC Was 10.9% not good at all .

Very odd re: the metformin! Try speaking to your diabetes team again?
If your hba1c is that high, why aren't they increasing your insulin? Do you test regularly?
Yes there are other medication that works in a similar way to metformin, speak to your diabetes team about this.

You're not alone - Glucophage MR goes through me whole, too. The doctors still assure me that the active ingredients are being absobed, though.

I'm not so sure...

System Components and Performance — GLUCOPHAGE XR comprises a dual hydrophilic
polymer matrix system. Metformin hydrochloride is combined with a drug release controlling
polymer to form an “inner” phase, which is then incorporated as discrete particles into an “external”
phase of a second polymer. After administration, fluid from the gastrointestinal (GI) tract enters the
tablet, causing the polymers to hydrate and swell. Drug is released slowly from the dosage form by
a process of diffusion through the gel matrix that is essentially independent of pH. The hydrated
polymer system is not rigid and is expected to be broken up by normal peristalsis in the GI tract.
The biologically inert components of the tablet may occasionally remain intact during GI transit and
will be eliminated in the feces as a soft, hydrated mass

If the tabs go through you without the contents being absorbed, you might find your pharmacist has some helpful ideas

I know that I may have asked this question before but these drugs are really playing havoc with my stomach my Diabetes team look as if they couldn't care less as they keep telling me to put up with it as it's normal to have dhiorea , I keep telling them they come out whole as my stomach isn't disolving what's left of them , I feel as if I'm fighting a losing battle all the time , my last HB1AC was 10.9% and I can't get it to budge !
My mobility is a great part of the problem & it is getting worse I use a wheel chair ( don't like to ) because I reckon that if I carry on using it my kidneys will go , I have a multitude of problems some linked with Klinefelter Syndrome others not but I do know that I need help & I don't seem to be getting it .

Not sure if you know about this UK support organisation for Klinefelter's syndrome. There are several links, including medical links on the web site which may have useful information and may help you in dealing with your HCP's.

Have you seen a specialist/ Endocrinologist ?
