Hi all, Im looking for a glucose meter that has cheap test strips, as Im no longer able to get them on prescription and Im not keen on paying 25 quid for 50 for my current meter, an Accu Chek Advantage.

The SD Codefree bg meter has the cheapest strips available at around £5 for a box of 50, if you search the forum you'll find a few reviews of the meter.

Thanks for the reply. Ive just bought one on Amazon, plus 100 lancets and 50 strips for 29.99, including delivery charges! Lancets cost 4.99 for 100 and strips are 6.99 for 50, just what Im after.

If you don't mind using eBay you will find that you are buying from exactly the same supplier but your P&P costs are pegged at £2 per order. Useful if you want to order more that one pot at a time as it lowers the cost of each individual item.

Great stuff Gaz

Had a quick look on Ebay but couldnt find any cheaper, they were all 12 quid for 50, Ill try a few different searches later, I just did a quick search for SD Codefree meter and got 6 results, 5 for strips and one for a DVD player!!

Was quite happy with the Amazon deal, 12 quid for the meter. Ive been paying 27.99 for 50 strips for my current meter. I read some negative reports on the SD giving erratic results, but Ive also read the same about my Accu Chek Advantage.

 I just had to see the DVD. Wondered if it played my test strips.

If you follow through on the UK SD Codefree listing you will find it takes you to the UK supplier you used on Amazon, follow the link for other items to find the test strips etc. :)

Ah right, Ill take a closer look, like I said, I only did a quick search.

*Edit*
Just found them, 5.99 plus 2 quid P+P

Don't forget to choose the "I am a diabetic" option to get your reduction in the cost. :) ( £4.99 + £2.00 p&p per order. Every penny counts. )

The saving is when you order more than one item.

Got it yesterday, cracking little meter. You also dont need to tap an artery to do a test, like with my old Accu Chek
