Hi, I have used an SD code free tester purchased by myself for 5 years without a problem, I have recently changed doctor and have prescribed a mystar tester, the problem I have is that when comparing the readings the mystar always reads about 1.8mmols more than the SD, even when using the same spot or blood, has anyone else found this. Thanks.

The accuracy of meters is measured by a percentage of your reading.
Can you provide a bit more information?
1.8 difference is a high percentage if your BG is around 5. However, if your readings are closer to 15, this is within the usual accuracy tolerance of 15%.

You can also request some test solution from the meter manufacturers to confirm the accuracy of the meters.

You can check it against test solution --- Home Health who sell the SD CodeFree will sell you a two container kit. The tolerance for strips and meters is fairly wide but the perfect result is right in the middle of the upper and lower limits quoted for the test solution. Generally accuracy gets worse the further you go above 4.
