Hi can anyone tell me whether the the two hours after eating testing means before or after the meal? I have been type 2 for 13 years and am still unsure of this.
You take one reading immediatly before eating and another 2 hours later then look at a) the absolute values and b), probably more importantly, the difference between them.
In an ideal world, you want the first reading to be under 6, the 2hr reading to be under 8, and the difference between them to be as low as possible
Generally the rule of thumb is if the difference between pre and post meal numbers is more than 2 then your meal had too many carbs, or your portion was too large.
