Going abroad for 6 months

Hi there, I'm new to the forum and this is my first post. I have had a look around but can't find exactly what I'm after. If it's been posted before, I'd be ultra grateful if you could point me in the right direction!

I have had T1 diabetes for 18 years with, so far, no awful complications. I am looking to go to America for six months and have no idea where to start with my medication. I use Humalin and Lantus. Do I save up a supply from here to take? (I can't save up 6 months worth!) Can I get insurance that covers ma and can anyone recommend a good company, or do I have to bite the bullet and buy the medication over there?

This is just the beginning of my investigations so any help would be lovely!
