Not really knowing what's going on inside my Endocrine system!!!
It's a remarkably warm day today in.Glasgow and when I got home i felt a bit tired so thought I should have a nap. ,
Something made me check my sugar though I'm still recovering from a cold that really knocked me out yesterday so been a bit out if it generally.

So my meter showed a 3.3. What would have happened if in my tired blundering state I had taken a nap? What I have woken up if I got lower?

Hi Sanober

I get woken up if it gets down into the high 2s, but I guess we are all different. It probably depends on your hypo-awareness.

Hopefully yes but I would struggle to get off to sleep with levels that low, are your hypo awareness symptoms OK or is the cold masking them in some way?

It's hard to say really, most likely that you would have woken to a slightly lower level, more so if normally you've got good hypo warning..

Did the right thing though, if you'll worried just check before you have a nap to make sure that you'll tired and not low..

Hi Sanober!

Obviously, you shouldn't sleep with your BG that low. However, with LADA, you would almost certainly have woken with them quite a bit higher as your body is still probably capable of correcting lows with a liver dump - depending on how much injected insulin you still had active at the time. If I'm in doubt, I have a jelly baby to make sure. Don't rely on that though - test!

Hope your cold's on the mend - I had one a couple of months back and my BG control was awful. Seemed like my insulin wasn't working. Luckily, some of the more experienced Type 1s on the forum gave me good advice and reassurance and it really did come back to normal once the cold went.

Thanks everyone.

My sugars are now more in <4 territory but still getting the odd upward shoot here and there to 12/13s.

There's been a couple of times when I've had an 8g carb biscuit and an hour later I'm still under the 4 level, and then another biscuit and an hour later still around 4. Ever had that?

Smidge, the fun's now gone out of it to be honest, I know, odd thing to say but I was so motivated to deal with this new challenge. I'm trying my best to tackle this but just when I think I've sussed I'll randomly spike!

So for now I'm going with a minimal carb lunch (allowing for veg/salad) to minimise at least one injection of insulin in the day. I sometimes get a chemical taste in my mouth when I've been injecting too much.

Also, interesting, regarding the cold - I've been totally knocked out this week by it. I'm feeling nauseous, light headed and getting cold fingers but feel hot and sweaty.

Plus my eyes seems to be getting drier eyes and inside my nose absolutely bone dry, the dry throat's back (had it last year pre insulin but it was oral thrush-nice) so drinking more water, and I think what the heck is this now ?

Also, I've started to notice a strange blush either side of my nose in the past few weeks (I took photos today and my husband has noticed it, it comes and goes randomly, not a rash but a definite pink blush, feels a bit hot and 'raised' in parts) and I get my usual aches and pains here and there, particularly my left shoulder which I deep down think is frozen shoulder.

I had full bloods done (for umpteenth time) a few weeks ago, along with vit B12 (at 313 range is 200-900 so not deficient and up from 260 from 6mths ago) and vit D which is 63 and <50 is poor and <25 is deficient. So supplements for both.

I know, just because of T1.5 doesn't mean I'll get everything else but still it gets ya down if you know what I mean.

Sorry, turned into a bit of a misery guts.

Back to work now.

Thanks always for your responses
